As tho boats rowed to One Man's Wharf, Victoria still had the best of it, with the New Zealanders seoond, Sydney and Tasraanl next on level terms. At Gladesville the Viotorians were a length to the good of New Zealand, who in turn were two lengths off the others. Approaching Oaborlta, the New Zaalanders spurted, and lessened the dlstanoe between them and the leaders, the other pair making a great race for third pleos, bat were a considerable distance in the rear. The New Zealanders stubbornly fought Viotorla for first plaoe, but the latter were quite equal to tbe taßk, and as they passed Tennyson were two lengths ahead. This they increased to three lengths, when tbe gasworks were left behind. At Putney all tbe crews spurted. The New Zealindera rowing in fine style, got within a length of the leaders, but were anable to ipako further progress.
