fRBDTKB'B TRLKOBAMS.) Received December 28, at 1.40 a.m. Hobaut, December 27. Arrived, this morning—New Zaalnnd Shipping Company's Tongariro. All well. She Bailed thia afternoon for New Zealand. Received December 28, at 12 50 p.m. Sydney, December 26. Mr Bevan, leader of the expedition formed in Sydney for exploring New Guinea, has returned to Thursday Island. He reports the result of their labors as a brilliant geographical success. The cxpe* dltion explored the river systems running into the Gulf of Papua, over an area of 10,000 miles into the new territory, but were compelled to return owing to half the men of the party being down with fever. Personally, Mr Bavan is desirous of re* commencing the expedition, if the neoes* sary funds are provided, the last expedltion having confirmed his former dis» coreriea.
