The Atlanticj recently stranded in a gale at Kara tonga, has been patched up and purchased by Donald and Edinborongb, and will be brought on to Auckland for thorough repairs. The agricultural show was successful so far aa exhibits are concerned, but the weather prevented a good attendance. NEW PLYMOUTH. March 20. INYERCARGILL. March 22. A young man named George M'Curdy, while shoeing a horse in A. Dunjops blacksmith's shop, was struck on the head by the animal and hia skull broken. The sufferer was picked up unconscious and removed to the Hospital, where the doctor is now engaged in removing the pieces of bone from the wound. The patient is in a critical state. The boy M'Curdy, who waa injured by a kick from a horse, is not expected to recover, snifering from comminuted fracture of th« aknlL Trepanning was found necessary } and tfac operation was performed by the hospital surgeon (Dr Wardale) assisted by Dr Hanan. Several pieces of bone were removed from tho brain. The sufferer ia unconscious, and his right side paralysed.
