The increased value of money has depressed thp market for New Zealand stock. New Zealand -fl per cent, consolidated debentures arc quoted at L 94, and 5 per cent, debentures at LIOO. South Australian 4 per cent, debentures are quoted at LOS 10s ; and Victorian 4 per cents, at L 97Tlie price for new malt ranges from 48s to 545. The tin market is steady at L9l ss. The corn marke: is firm and steady. Prices for wool improve as the sales progress. At to-day's sales G339 bales were sold. Brennan, the Secretary to the Land League, has been arrefted for sedition. The French Chamber has passed a vote of confidence in the Ministry. December G. A meeting of loyal Boers requested that constitutional freedom should be granted to them. The Ui'.'ht Hon. W. E. Gladstone, on leaving Glasgow, repudiated the idea that he was seeking place. He said the country wanted justice, economy, and reform, and it was a statesman's business to promote and advocate these measures. The Austrr.'iian tallow market is moderately active.
