OPINIONS OF THE PRESS. AM; DEirNKSa, By tho kind invitation of Professor Wallenburg and Dr Grant, the editor of this journal, in company with the editor of the Saturday Advertiser, visited their consulting ro .nu, at tiie Criterion Hotel, yesterday morninz. The tirst case shown was that of a Mi«. Whit»', aged 11 years, the daughter of a settler at Oamaru, who has been totally blind for years. This young lady ha 3 been under the treatment of these clever oculists for throe da> s. and, wonderful to say, her cyeaight has been perfectly restored. The father of the girl asftircd ns that he had placed her under the carc of several medical men, who had failed to do her any good, despite the money he had lavished upon her. The next was the case of Miss Hughes, a Dancdin resident, who stated that she had been deaf for a period of over three years. Strange to say, she has only been under treatment eight days, and her hearing has b«en fully restored, '{'hia fortunate girl is delighted over her good fortune. The next subject uniier treatment was a laborer, named Patrick Francis, working at Logan's Point, who informed us that latterly he was itntck in the right eye with a stone, by which he lost his sight, and of Into his left eye has been materially alieuted by -he blind one ; but, thanks to the skill of Professor Wallenburg, h- h.is n'>w recovered the of his two i ye.-, and is able to discern the smallest :>rint. Herman Shultz ..f Hv>:c. was the la t patient introduced. He stated that he bad iie-n totally deaf for years, and that he had only been under treatment lor a f.v." day?, and now he could hear plainly, Theae g nticmon have numerous other cares under treatment. The cases that we have instance ! should be »utticieut to reinovo any doubt from the moat seepiic.il. All the patients that are now under treatment have been tampered with bv the medical profession with no satisfactory result, and this in the major portion of cases causes more aggravation, and makes effectual corrf more difficult. The above cases clearly illustrate that Dr. Grant and Professor Wallenburg are, without doubt, what thev profess to be, Oculists, A mists, and Specialists. We would strongly recommend th'ike who are either aillxted with blindness or deafness to consult these gentlemen at once, aa their stay here is limited.—Evening Tribune, September 24th, IS7O.

The Kvnning Tribune, of October 18, says : Professor Wnllcnburg and Dr. I;rant have again effected some more marvellous cuic3 in blindness. The editor of this journal, accompanied by Mr. J. J. Connor, visited the oculists' cunsultingrooms at the Criterion Hotel this morning. The first person the editor conversed with was Daniel Mahoney, a laborer, residing at Logan'tf Point, who stated that he had been totally blind for some two weeks, through a severe cold he had contracted. He had been under private treatment for a week, bat he got worse instead of better. He wa3 brought to Professor Wallenburg on the 11th inst., and, sines then he has been under this clever oculist's treatment, with the result that ho if now recovering the sight of both eyes. John Chalmers, a briekmaker, residing at Pelichet Bay, stated that he had been blind of the right eye for over nine weeks, and the left one was beginning to become affected by the right one. He was under treatment at the Hospital, hut without any beneficial result. He has been tinder Professor Wallenbnrg's treatment three week", and can now discern the smallest object with both eyes. Patrick Conno-, a miner, residing at Hindon, was the next patient consulted. He had been totally blind of the rk-ht eye for three months, and had been in the Hospital under treatment, which, he s'ate-*, tended to make the right eye worse, and to injure the left one. ile went under Professor Wallenbnrg's treatment on the 9th October, and now he is perfectly cared, and intends starting to follow his" calling on Monday next. The cases that are instanced above are ones in which the patient 3 went to the oculists entirely destitute of funds, and were treated out of simple humanity and charity ; conscrpiently, Professor Wallenburg and Dr. Grant are deserving of the thanks of the community for the kindness and charity displayed in these cases.—Tuapeka Times, November 15th, 1579. AN ACKNOWLEDGMENT. TO Tire EI>ITOR.
