At the Riccarton Trial, January 24th, 1878, three fourths of the farmers preferred the M'Cormick Reaper aud Binder, and were prepared to give their unsolicited verdict in its favor. At the Katapoi Trial, February 7th, 1878, the FIRST PRIZE, given by the Farmers' Club, was awarded to the M'Cormick Machine. At the Oamaru Trial, February 27th, IS7B, THE GOLD MEDAL Given by the Northern AgricultuaJ and Pastoral Association, Oamaru, Otago, was. awarded to the M'Cormick Machine.' At the Ashburton County Trial, at Mothven, on March (sth, 1878, the FIRST PRIZE was awarded to the driver of the only M'Cormick Machine present in competition with Twelve Machines of another make.
