TRAVELLER EJECTED
(From "N.Z. Truth's" Christchurch Rep.)
John Sommerville Jones was put out. For a long time now he has been endeavoring to obtain a statement from a business man m Hereford Street, Christchurch, but he was never able to meet with any satisfaction. WHENEVER he called. at the office .*V he was told that the man was out, and, ,to add insult to injury, he complained that he was ridiculed by a number of girls and "so-called office boys." On his last visit to the office he was unable to get what he wanted, so he began to tell -.someone, m obscene language, what he thought of him. He was put out — forcibly. But Jones is a bonds salesman by occupation, and' he was not deterred. He returned and repeated the language; but this time the police were called m and they arrested him. Jones was under, the influence of liquor at the time, and when he appeared m the Magistrate's Court Subinspector P. J. O'Hara told Mr. E. C. Levvey, S.M., that when the man had a few whiskies m he usually became a nuisance. In reply to a question by Mr.- Levvey, Mr. W. C. Whiley, who appeared for Jones, said that at present Jones was an agent for a forestry'company, but was really a dentist by profession. Jones pleaded guilty to charges of being drunk and of using obscene language, but could not remember where he used the language. ' . Mr. Levvey remarked that it appeared from Jones's list that his speciality was using strong language, but such might be his .usual practice. When Jones was arrested he had £221/8/8% m his possession, but this amount was reduced by £6/10/- as a result of his fine and costs.
