Simple Way To Clean 7 OatMxifflkA 1 :■ Owners who know how an excessive7accumulatibn of; carbon can' impair the efficiency of the engine, . especially when deposits get around the valve seats and prevent the valves from closing .properly, almost invariably forget to consider., cleaning but the muffler. YET a clogged muffler will cause sufficient back pressure on the engine to waste power. Cleaning the muffler is not, as might be imagined, a difficult job, You do not even need to remove the unit, much less take it .apart. Just t^p its sides lightly with a wooden mallet. , This will shako carbon loose from the plates so that if the car^ is, driven up a steep hill following this treatment much of the loosened carbon will blow out the exhaust pipei. Incidentally, loose muffler plates sometimes can be tightened. by, squeeze ing the sides of the muffler throughhammering dents m the proper places. mminimmmmimmmnmmmimmimmi'mmmimtr,..i'mimiiimmmmm.
