Cream of Riccarton To Trek
ANYONE with fair weight-for-age or handicap horses will find races easy to win m the South Island next spring if the present intentions of a number of Riccarton trainers are carried out. Providing everything goes as planned, Riccarton will be represented m Australia m the spring by Honour, Limerick, Paquito, Nightmarclv Silver Paper and Rapier, m addition to a number of lesser lights which will go as companions. *■'...- v At the present time all the horses mentioned are doing very satisfactorily m their work. ■ Limerick and Paquito both look m the pink, and are having their 1 tasks gradually inereased7while Nightmarch is m a similar position, Honour is the gentleman of the party, and were it not for his outstanding markings it would be difficult to recognise him as the same horse which woh the Welcome. Contrary to general opinion, Rapier was not nominated, for any of the handicaps m Australia, and his mission will be weight-for-age events only. Silver Paper returned, from Invercargill on Monday. He has furnished well during his spell and is to commence' a' serious preparation i ■ right away.- 7"" 7; -.*'•■' '! This batch represents the cream of Riccarton's horseflesh, and if they all get out of the country m search of the big Australian prizes, it will make races easier, to win. for those left at home.
