Chapman, at least, claims that the voices are those of spirits, but as the world' at large is very unsophisticated in these matters, he cannot complain if sceptics criticize him. "N.Z. Truth" assumes the role of j critic for the reason that having closely investigated the blue i-ooni spirit ' party show on two separate nights, it is still far from satisfied that all is as it seems. In justice to Chapman it must be said that at "Truth's" request he made no objection whatever to a . rigorous inspection of the platform by two representatives of this paper. The stage was absolutely bare, save for a small table, at which sat the i medium, and the piano, which was placed edgeways on to the audience. Further,, the whole show was conducted in the full glare of the electric light and there was no trace of any magnavox, gramophones, or other paraphernalia that might be used in a clfeap fake.
