They Return Again

A few seasons back we were P hugging to our hearts the godets [\ and fluted effects that made their appearance in our evening dresses, but when they began to give place 5 to the straighter line, we let them go with barely a regret. f MOW, however, we are again receiv- J A ' ing those godets and flutes with I wide-opened arms, such an inconsis- i tent, fickle lot we are. f They have returned lovelier and ' more graceful than ever, and all the -■> skill of the dress designers has been * brought to bear on their stressing of the slim silhouette. r< i The backs of some of the very \ newest evening dresses are straight and inclined to tightness, for it is in the front that the godets make ' their appearance. t The effect is not obvious, for when the wearer is still the line of frock is slender and straight, but when she moves as she dances or walks tho j godtets spring into life, and, folded one j on top of the other, swing forth. , These little diversions from the j straight lines which we have rather |* wearied of make for a much more * graceful look than we have been ac- i •customed to for some time, and because of this are doubly welcome. f According to London dress author!- K ties, the V-neck and open back have at last come well into their own, and i are featured on the really smart model |> dance frocks. h This fad — the open back, I mean— is ! all very well if you are so fortunate aa I to possess a goodly number of dresses £ for evening wear, but if you don't it is Just as well to give them a wide berth, | as a frock which has to see Trojan &■> wear should not be too startling. b Also, to carry the frock that shows L 6. liberal amount of bare back, you b need to be tall, slim and tho possessor || of a good pair of shoulders. t
