Disabuse yourself of the idea that Miss Hinemoa Hopkins is a bluestocking, and that torts and Jurisprudence are her sole topics of conver- „ sation. She is a most entertaining conver- 7 sationalist, and nothing pleases hemore than the interchanging of ideas. Intuition — that truly womanly traitenables her to quickly scan the fallings or virtues of her callers, and her unobtrusive summing-up of their plaints facilitates unerring judgment. .'Not for her the heavy atmosphere of tomes. ...'.■'- Her office — just across from, the . G.P.O. m Featherston Street — is bright with pictures and flowers and her own personality. . When she left school In 1917 ; she discovered a partiality for the law game, and thus she began to rattle the keys m Luke and Kennedy's offlce, where she learnt her first steps. Becoming fascinated with the many problems which confronted her from day to day, and spurred by experience, she delved deeply into all the intricacies of the profession, and m. 1922 secured her admission as a solicitor m the Supreme Court. A stack of folios on her desk testifies to her enjoyment of a comfortable practice, but despite this fact she has no hankering for public life.
