FEET ON THE PEDALS

And The Shoes They Are Encased In

Have you ever driven a car when you were wearing 1 slippern or very thin soled shoes,? Have you ever noticed any difference m your comfort as you sat at the wheel? .

WE have experienced a case of this sort this week, and it has set us wondering whether any of our readers have had a similar experience. When we entered the car, m spite of the. newness 'of our footwear,, we seemed to have a much better sense of control over' the, footbrake, clutch and accelerator. It is difficult to explain, but it seemed as if we could. FEEL the actual position of the pedals with the thinsoled shoes and only a part of the foot seemed to be doing the work. , With a stout pair of walking shoes, the acutal pedal was not so noticeable,

and the muscles seemed to act m a different way. If this i 9 the case, it might be better to have long oblong pedals, something like a small edition of those which are fitted to treadle lathes and small organs, rather than the present small fittings. The whole, foot could then be rested on the pedal, and such fittings should prove very valuable to lady drivers m particular, since their shoes are seldom on the thick side. 1 Have any of our readers seen, made or used such pedals? \. , , .If so, we shall be glad to learn their experience with theni. .. -.
