Rivals Runners-up (BYom "Truth's" Nelson Rep.) As Nelson arid Rivals won their matches against Waimea and Old Boys on Saturday, Nelson have won the cup and Old Boys are runners-up. AT the Park Old Boys and Rivals just managed to rake up teams. Old Boys opened in' slashing style, Snodgrass m the first two minutes scoring from the half-way line— a great run. He nearjy, repeated his performance a few moments later, but Quirk queered his intention'with a desperate tackle by the heels. . ■ After this Rivals brightened up, and 1 Hurley kicked a penalty. Later Nightengale dodged through for a really good try, Snodgrass goaling. \ Rivals' utility man, Sands, then drfopped a lovely goal, and half-time saw the score ,7—' B. iy It was Sands' day out. for from , a scrurni he secured, and went over, Hurley goaiirig. ■ Wallace then made a great run and scored, the irrepressible Sands kicking a goal from the touchline. Rivals won, 17— S. ■ , : Nelson had an easy win over W'aimea at Richmond, scoring 27 points to nil. No tries were converted. Interest is now centred m the Shield match, and as both Nelson and Golden Bay look upon it as a cert., thepe should be a great game- at Motueka.
