Of Interest To Farmers
T AST year the Australian Tariff Board was requested to report upon agricultural implements, to investigate the effect of the tariff upon the price to the users of agricultural machinery and to inquire whether the local manufacturers were making excessive profits. Here, m brief, Tare the^Board's' conclusions : "The effect of the tariff on agricultural implements is not detrimental toihe best interests of the primary producer. '■The prices which are charged do not return excessive profits to the (local) manufacturers." "It may safely be said. . ;.that the tariff oh agricultural implements is imposing no burden on the primary producer." , When will New Zealand wake up, when will this country be guided by experiments abroad, when will the Government get abreast of the times and/out of its rut of hide-bound conservatism?- ,■■> ■ . , ,''.
