DUNEDIN'S COLLAPSE

Oidgo Cricket Championship Still m the Balance ALLQm BOWJMNG fTRIUMPH (From "Truth's" Special Dunedin Representative.) > As has been stated before, the glorious uncertainty of cricket gives the game much of its charm. i

THIS was exemplified on Saturday, when the two leaders m the championship, Dunedin and Grange, started what will probably be the final round of the season. . When they last met, the game was not finished, Grange making 109 and Dunedin having 59 on the board for the loss of two \yickets. It was agreed that Dunedin should finish, this innings on Saturday before the fixture set down for the day was commenced. , With eight wickets m hand, their prospects of heading the moderate score set by Grange certainly looked rosy, but the innings was practically a procession, of batsmen from and to the pavilion. The whole side was out- for 83;. which meant -that eight wickets added only 24 runs. Grange thus got a twopoint win. . , ' ■ • No fewer than eight of the , batsmen were clean bowled, and only three of them reached double figures. It was little ' Short of being a debacle; : Galland and Alloo bowled well, the latter exceptionally so, and had the batsmen guessing from the start. Of the eight wickets that fell on Saturday Alloo got four for 9 arid Galland three for 10. Dunedin then took first knock m lh(. fixture for the day, but again they failed badly, and the last wicket ' fell at 90. ■ Some of the players seemed, "nervy," ai.id consequently incapable of showing their true. form! ".. ; An exception was Casey, who hit out freely and confidently, his 30 including a lofty sixer off Galland. ,

McCal-dle a.lso hit out well during his short stay, his IS coming- from soyen "Allob and Galland again gave the batsmen most trouble, the latter get-.-ting- the good figures of four for 19. With 8 on the board and _ nine wickets m hand, Grange look like getting 1 a two-point win! Mft they do, the championship for the season will be theirs. ', ■ Out at Carisbrook the home sido tepk first strike 1 against Albion, and placed themselves m a winning posi.tion by the/end of the day. . Of the totiil of. 184, Gantrell claimed <he most with 48 against his name. ■1 Jo played clean, crisp shots all round /the wicket, his timing and placing teing features of a fine innings. Cameron and Bardsley, two exKigh School boys, got 26 and 25 respectively, and' played attractively m getting them. ' The former showed pretty wrist work, and with experience should develop into a first-class batsman. Of the battery -of Albion bowlers, Mdvor stood on a pedestal : by himself, and his figures of six for 56 did not flatter him m the least. . Albion started' badly, and with half the. side gone and only 66 on the board they are faced with the prospect of defeat. Included m this tally were no fewer than 25 extras, most of them byes "from Dickinson's lightning deliveries. , . .Among the four wickets taken by the crack Carisbrook bowler were those of Blamires and Shepherd, the former when he had only 3 against his name and the latter before he had scored. ••.''' _ ' ' .
