* Auckland and Wellington meet next month to decide tfce fate of the Plunket Shield for the coming year. Provided that the Auckland eleven is at full strength, the Wellington reps, will have to fight for their lives to win.

Auckland defeated Canterbury and Otago, while Wellington triumphed over Canterbury. The Wellington team to meet Otago to-day is perhaps the best and strongest'combination that has represented the province for years. All the same, it is unwise to play Bert Kortlang, who is here to-day and gone to-morrow, m place of local men who have performed so well this season. No one will dispute for a moment Kortlang's ability as a batsman, but should our own players be shelved for a visitor? What more must Hollings, Patrick and Westbrook do before they catch the eye of the selector? < .
