An Explanation TOMMY THOMPSON REPLIES Mr. Tommy Thompson, who was acting as adviser for the Taranaki Road Race ' Committee, replies to Artie Hay's letter, published m "Truth," as follows: "I would like to make an explanation re Artie Hay's letter m ' "Ti % uth," and let you know what really passed between Artie Hay and the Road Race Committee, who were running the tourney. "It was run m aid of their funds and so clears the Taranaki Boxing Association of all blame. "Both Hay and Waldren were wired to asking if they would fight Loveridge here on October 22. "This was merely done to see if they were available" or not. When their replies were considered by the committee it was, decided to niatch Waldren. as his expenses were £5 less than i what Hay could make the trip for. .
