MODERN TREND
Motor Cycle Designs LIGHTWEIGHT ADVANTAGES The early issues of the reports of the London Motor Cjcle Show, which have recently come to hand, are sufficient to show some .details of the trend of design m this sphere, m which the British manufacturers undoubtedly load the world. The motor-cycles shown were manufactured by fifty-four different manuacturers, and range from the tiny "Francis Barnett," with its triangulated frame, to the powerful" side-car touring types like the "Brough Superior." The excellent results -which have been obtained with the: lightweight machines have seemingly killed the small engines for attaching to ordinary push bicycles; at any rate, only one of these is shown. Three-wheelers, apart from side-car outfits> are also admitted to the show, and these are apparently becoming - more popular, three makes being shown. These include "Morgan," a make which has been on the. market m England for many years, and which is a distinctive machine, unlike either a motor- cycle or a car. The other two machines are more conventional; one, m particular, the D'Yrsan, a French production, looks exactly like a car on three wheels, and has a four-cylinder, water-cooled engine.- . Other newcomers to' the show include a (inn specialising m meehani-cally-propollecl invalid chairs, and another manufacturing tradesman's light delivery three-wheelers. .
