REJUVENATING YOUR JUMPER

Simple Process Explained

Don't let familiarity breed contempt of your old jumpers; every jumper has its day,' but when old-age creeps upon it, a simple process of rejuvenation will give even the most faded and ancient a ,new lease of life. Age shows first i n t h e neck; woollen jumpers especially find it difficult to conceal the tell-tale signs of time; the sleeves also show a tendency to "pull," and when once " old age is upon the jumper the wearer presents a dowdy or much - worn appearance.

The business girl cannot afford to despise "such an asset as a trim and smart appearance, nor can she often afford to dispense with her much -used jumpers So here is a hint on the subject of rejuvenation which could be followed between jazz nights and business hours. Just cut off the sleeves, as you see by the picture, and bind the armholes with a contrasting or self-shade of suede or chamois. Anything else (such as dress flannel, if the jumper is wool) will do as well, but a modish touch is given by the evergreen smartness of suede. Then cut the neck deep down m a V (as per the picture), and bind it m the same way as the sleeves; be sure to get the joins, if any, on the shoulders. A row of buttons (covered with suede if possible) down the front :is designed to hide the fact that the front surface may be a little "rubbed," and the turned-up hem gives just one of those unexplainable touches "which makes the whole world (of fashion) kin." The despised jumper becomes at once a warm and useful garment to slip on over a soft silk blouse or a glorified jumper on a cold day.
