Can You Wear Mauve?

Only Suitable to a Few Types Mauve is a lovely but peculiar color. In all its varying shades it looks charming m the hand, but you can never be sure how it will look m wear. Often it has an awkward way of making pale people look ill, haggard, and older than they are, while rosy girls take on a slightly apoplectic tinge m it! Still, the right woman looks delicious m mauve and purple. Pale girls with dark red hair; greyeyed, dark-haired, clear-skinned ones, of the fraeUe, romantic-looking type, and elderly grey-haired ladies with good skins and blue or grey eyes, can all wear mauve. Orchid and other delicate pinky shades are lovely for evening wear if they suit your complexion when tried by artificial light. . The same colors, m fragile 'stuffs, are adorable for very best undies; alas, they fade only too soon. Deep violet, plum, wine, are distinctly "old" colors and nefed to be • well made m rich stuffs and worn with dignity. Magenta is- l'eally only suitable for, rather freakish little dance 'frocks.
