Eastbourne, by the way, had scoring fever when they slapped on 30 points against Berhampore, who scored a. quiet' little unconverted try. Eastbourne have done quite a lot of the big score stuff this season. They ran up 29 points against Wellington (0), 20 against Marists A (7), 21 against Old Boys (5), and a modest little 42 points against Selwyn (0). For 15 games played, they, have won 11 artd have scored a total of 230 ■points, with 59 registered against them. Jphnsonville came to light with a great display against Petohe and spread the scores like jam. The same ended with Johnsonville 32 points against 5. Porirua have won 14 of the 17 gamas played, and of course are leading on paper. • They, snatched a fairly decisive victory from" Old Boys .-. last week, the score being 19 to 5. To Porirua's credit as; defensive players, the fact that they have onJy had 49 points scored against them to date, and have played no fewer than 17 games is worth noting. . Even the crackajack Athletics cannot boast of such figures, as they have played only 15 games and have had 59 points scored against them. Last, but by no means least, here's good did— or perhaps it should be young— Athletic gone and done it again. Poneke this time. One loss (at the hands of nippy Porirua) is good going indeed, arid.it will.be a good team that can hand out a k.o. to the leaders at this time of,: the day.
