Breach of Faith?
j While it is a principle of common' law that a man If responsible for the actions of his agents, it is alleged that a Minister of the Crown moves on a higher piano. The Hamilton Borough Council, who contracted with officers of the Education Department to exchange a piece of land, find themselves m a bit of a fix because Sir James Parr has repudiated the commitments of Ihe Department's officers who made the deal, dr declines to regard the contract as binding. At a recent meeting of the Borough Council, some hard things were said about the. alleged breach of faith, and Mayor Fow said the Department had now offered to 'sell the land to the Council on easy terms— a magnanimous offer when they had already arranged to hand it over m exchange for a much bigger and more valuable piece of,- land, granted the Department by the Council. Unfortunately when the Council handed over the site on which the Technical School now stood, it did not take the precaution to see that the Department honored its part of the agreement. The Minister is to hear more from the Council about the matter.
