FOUND HER BOY DYING.

The sobbing of a gvicii-strickeii little woman echoed through the Greymouth Courthouse a few mornings ago, as she told the pathetic story of the death of her eldest son, a bright boy of fourteen summers. The sun shone through the Courthouse windows down on to her bent figure, but the sun had gone out for her — her boy was dead. Bringing m the cows, his horse stumbled, threw him to the ground, and fatally fractured his' skull. There his mother found him, lying m a pool of blood. He never spoke to her again, and died m the hospital without regaining consciousness. TheoccuiTcncc was, obviously,, an accident, and. the medical evidence clearly showed the cause of death. Surely it was unnecessary to add to his mother's ordeal by bringing her to the Courthouse, to live over again the tragedy. Those who witnessed her grief, thought that it might have been possible to dispense with her attendance, if not with an inquest.
