Held on Serious Charge
It was a fair-headed, intelligaritlooking youth of twenty who went into the box at the Magistrate's Court m Dunedin one day last week to answer a charge -of having committed/an aggravated assault on a female at Upper Junction. His name was Sydney Richard Wilson/and his fingers twitohed nervously during his brief appearance. Chief Detective Lewis, m asking for a remand, forecasted that the ultimate charge would probably be indecent assault, together with, theft. Wilson had been working for many months on the farm of a married couple' at ivlount Cargill, and it was' alleged that -while the husband was away delivering milk, he assaulted " the complainant while she was m the cow-byre milking-. There was little doubt as- to .what -his original intention was, but this was not carried out, and after going to the house and' stealing money he cleared out.
A remand for a week was granted.
