Refused!
Purdy to Trowern When Charlie Purdy came home from his trip to Sydney he (arid his ; manager) were ready to talk : business. They called m at "Truth" and expressed* a wish to meet the winner of the Murray- Trowern contest, and they stated Wellington would do them for staging the contest. ; They wanted to fight the winner, but nothing was said of' the loser. If a boxer is willing to meet the winner of a contest it is natural to expect h© will not bar the loser. However, Purdy, or Donovan, cannot be natural. This week the following telegram reached "Truth." It speaks, or rather yells, for itself: "Fight Dwyer- Purdy twenty-fourth August cancelled; ' Reg. Trowern approached Purtfc/, through association, to take Dwyer's place; refused for about twentieth time. — Trow.em." ' There you are. Think what you like, but to "Truth" there is .only one conclusion to be arx-ived at. : Purdy does not want any of : Trowern. . Is it because the celebrated Frank Burns is not the dispenser of decisions nowadays? We wonder!
