Jumped Badly

Sir Rosebery's Effort

Prior to the National Sir .Rosebery failed to impress the track watchers with his schooling efforts. One morning m particular he showed a decided disliking for .the blsf fences, and as a consequence he went right out of favor. ■ Punters were wise, for on Tuea* day, m the National Steeplechase, Sir Rosebery did everything but jump well. The double m front of the stand bothered him a lot. He was up with the field when it passed this pla.ge the first time, but the fence cost him an enormous amount of ground. He went from fourth to second to last. The same double the second time nearly made him take the count. He got his hind legs into the second fence of it and all but put McDonald over his head. No, on last Tuesday's performance, Sir Rosebery does not like Riccarton country.
