Banker Arrested

Charges Total Over £6,000 (From "Truth's" Taranaki Rep.) Although a rumor of an impending arrest had been m free circulation m Taranaki for some weeks past,, Stratford got a big shock when Detective Walsh, of > Wellington, served on William Kerr, ex-manager of l the Stratford branch of the Union 1 Bank . of Australia, a warrant for his arrest on a charge of stealing £495, the property of the bank. On being brought before the Court on the same day, Kerr was remanded until August 14. Bail was allowed m self at £300 and two sureties of £150 each. Kerr was also ordered to-re-port to the police daily. Detective Walsh stated that further charges, totalling over £6000, were pending.
