GOODSELL TO ROW HANNAN.

It was mentioned ' m last week's "Truth" that Major Goodsell had been rather hasty m deciding to pu\ J. P. Hannan aside and give Tom Saul the first race for the ; world's championship. Hannan was all ready to go to Australia when he heard he had been turned down, and would have to take his chance of getting m again after Goodsell and Saul met. However, the champion has reconsidered the matter after being assured that Hannan had secured' the necessary backing arid was prepared to go to Sydney to row Goodsell. ■ . ' "

The position now is that the New Zealander is to have the first race Avith Goodsell, a'fd the winner will then havp to row" Saul. Apparently Goodsell is very confident of the reteult as he is making arrangements to row Saul a week or ' so after his race with Hannan, and then proposes' to ' meet Paddon a fortnight or so after Saul gets his quietus.

It is on the cards that Goodsell, will find his plans upset. Unless he has improved a whole lot since he met Archie Sharpe, of Wanganui, Goodsell will not havp things all his own* waj' against .Hannan, while Saul is a young sculler highly thought of by men who thoroughly understand the game.

Supposing the title is still m Goodsell's keeping; after his races with the above pair he| will be set a very severe -task .when he takes on Jim Paddon, that Us it the latter, can regain his old form': , ; ' ;" In the meantime, . howeyei"; interest will centre on the Goodsell — Hannan race. "Paddy" has gone to Australia, and he should have no trouble m getting into tip-top condition for the contest, New Zealanders will wish him success m his quest for the "vvorld's championship title.
