A y case of a most unusual kind was called m the Dunedin Magistrate's Court last week, when a young man krid his wife were each charged with the rape of a girl, who is a cripple. As the. principal witness was too ill to appear, the police were granted a remand, bail being fixed at £400 m each case. ; , \ The accused are well known m the district, and it, was stated, by the chief detective that the female had made preparations for committing suicide. V An order for suppression of the names m the meantime was made by the Magistrate.
