The Tremendous Trifle of a Neatly Cut Diamond
TRIFLES are what count m crime. Little circumstances which would ordinarily pass unnoticed lead to the solution of all manner of crimes, big and small, and by means of these is the chain of evidence forged which finally brings the crook to book.
Thus it is that detectives train their powers of observation so as to spot m an instant these tremendous trifles, and they train their memories, too, so that they may be able to remember them.
"Jewboy," behind which monicker lies the identity of a notorious Victorian crook, knows too well now how deadly a little trifle can prove. It earned him (writes "Truth's" Melbourne rep.) a lengthy spell m gaol.
