YOUNG GIRL'S LAPSE.
Motiveless Case of False Pretence.
How a young girl stepped from the straight and narrow pathway was told m the , Juvenile Court this week. A pretty girl, belonging to a wellknown Wellington family, she had obtained a cup and saucer valued 'at £3/10, m, yards of material, and a set of tea things valued at £1/2/6, by falsely representing that she was obtaining the goods on behalf of other people. A peculiarity of the case was that some of the goods had 'been given away to girl friends, and she had m no way herself benefltted by obtaining the articles. The case puzzled the Magistrate Mr C. R. Orr Walker, S.M., who remarked that the girl "must have a kink somewhere." Lawyer Pringle, however, came to the rescue toy ex-/ plaining that the girl suffered from occasional attacks of epilepsy. It was quite likely," he urged, "that the girl had taken these goods m a moment of mental aberration. After considering the matter, the Magistrate decided to adjourn the case for three months, and requested the probation officer to keep m touch with the girl._ _^
