Unused Over-Priced Land

All Mr. MasseyV replying to Mr. Wignall (Labor member of the British Migration Commission) does not explain away the awkward fact that there Is m New Zealand a lot of good land that is insufficiently used, and that an immigrant cannot get good land, cheap. The price that haa v to be paid for good land, makes it vory doubtful whether a highly competent N.Z. farmer (let alone an immigrant) can make it pay. And the Massey policy of facilitating credit tend*, to keep up the unwarranted prices of land. This policy may be right or may be wrong. But it is nonsense to attempt to deny that the prico of land will not let newcomers m, and that the limited use to which the average owner is putting the land does not warrant the price.
