REKE ROGERS.

One who has played tho football game for a good many years and now, at the age ot 30 or thereabouts, thinks he has had enough and Is likely to turn it up is Reke Rogers, a little halfcaste joker, of Rotorua, who has many laurels to retire on. When little more than sixteen years of age Reke was playing rep. football m the land of geysers ond m 1910 went over to the League code. Very fast and untiring, the more open rules suited him to n T.Y., and he was"-' selected m due course to go with the League team to Australia ln 1913, m which he played as a five-eighths, Reke kept on with the League game until 1914 and then hopped it to tho war. He played for tho Pioneers In England and' was also a member- of the Army team at Hornchurch m the third test against the South Africans- On his return as a sergeant In 1918 he went on with tho. Union game and has played rep. football for the Bay of Plenty team since. On occasions he haa skippered the team. Reke was a great defensive player and a capital placekick. ' It Is noteworthy that Reke, whose occupation is that of a coach painter, is employed by Tom Anderson, a burly smith of Rotorua, and another stalwart m the ranks of Rugby Ites. For the past three, years ho has been selector of the Rotorua SubUnion's aspirants for rep. honors under tho Bay of Plonty banner. He ia also another convert from the League code.
