Considerable improvements to the Stratford course should add to the access of the gathering*. The course 'as been raised along* the back, thu? riving a clear view of the racing hroughout, whilst the five and six 'urlong races will have straight starts.

The Egmont Racing Club's summer ■neeting is to be held on February 6 annd 7. Nominations close with the ncting-secretary, Mr. E. P. Cox, on January 18.

The Egmont Cup this year Is run over one mile and a half and is worth 800 soys. The principal distance on the second day is the Tonks Stakes of one mile and a quarter, worth 500 soys. The principal sprints each day carry 356 soys and 300 soys respectively.

The late president (the late Sir R. H. Nolan) is commemorated by the Nolan Cup, a hack race of 400 soys, including- a cup valued at 50 guineas, presented by Lady Nolan.

The consistent Karaeo is moving along very nicely at Hawera.

Thunderclap is now an inmate of P. Coffey's stable at Hawera.

Lochson, who ran a piece of glass into his foot a few days back, has recovered from the effects and is being exercised quietly.

Sunny Jim has been off the scone for a couple of days having gone slightly lany. Rer<ynoana is still, on the easy list.

Marqueteur is to be taken tb Manawatu, but will be back m time for Stratford and so will some other Taranaki horses.

Ernie George scored another win Hipo at Te Awamutu. The probability is that Stork and Hipo will return home before the holidays.
