New Light On Cancer

Tho Empire Cancer Campaign which was recently launched m London under the most favorable auspices draws attention anew both to the terrible ravages of the dread disease and also to the progress of research into its causation and cure. One of the most-far-reaching discoveries that has been made by the investigators is that it is possible to cultivate living flesh outside of any body. That Is m itself surprising enough, but m addition it has been found that, immersed m a nourishing fluid the pieces of "tissue" as they ar« called, grow quite well and according to fixed rules. Thus if a piece of liver Is grown the added part will not be liver, but Just flesh. But if In the same vessel is placed a umall portion of another /kind of tissue gristle or fibre, tho stuff tendon and ligaments are mmle of. the special and delicate characters of liver begin to show themselves.
