Apropos of the divers ways in which the windy capital may be compared to the mote favored Northern . city there Is yet another comparison to be drawn, albeit, bathos. We speak not of azure sky nor sapphire .seas, but; of lavatories. A ladj' visitor' to the two cities informs "Truth" that Wellington is eclipsed. In Auckland besides the provision of ladles' lavatories in rest rooms: 7 in drapery establishments, there are others in prominent positions—one; in ' CJueen Street, which the visitor cannot fail to see, one at the ferry wharf; and another at, the library. These are not merely clean, they scintillate, while a woman la -in constant attendail be. In' Wellingrton vthere . are rest, rooms in the draper^' shops, but what of the days when they are closed? The point is one that may well be taken up by the civic authorities to place Wellington in this . respect on a plane with other cities of the "world. In London, ladies* lavatories are as conspicuously, situat-ed-In the streets, and equally 1 as plainly designated, as those for men. A little seclusion is desirable .possibly, ■.
