Wealth Not Happiness
Thousands of, people fondly hug the delusion that if they only had a fraction of the- wealth ttoat is. shown in profusion in almost every -movinc picture, they would be as happy as the proverbial Larry, Thero is no certainty about this. Not that "Truth" wishea to go to the opposite extreme, and contend that ' a state of dire poverty Is a condition of happiness. There are, however, vmany men with untold wealth who aro not getting the same amount of pleasure out of life aa a casual laborer never ffur© of a job. Recent cable© reported the miserable death In London of an elderly mad, who, although in receipt of an income «if £2000 a year, was homeless and friendless; living in kn* expensive, but cheerless, hotel. Probably, one of the moat unhappy men the writer ever met was a powerful personality whose Income ranged up to about £10,000 a year. Money may not buy happiness, but certainly ft can! smooth over the rough stepplng-stone« of life.
