Vespucci and Red Hind and Some Kid were beaten three furlongs from home, but PHUewinkie and Castellan both went well. Kilfane was sent out favorite for the Ahuriri Hack Handicap at Motukarara. Brown Lady and Shady Way got out badly. Goldspinncr led for a furlong whero ho was Joined by Gossard and Kilfane, with The Reaver just m behind them. A furlong from home Goldspinner dropped out. The Reaver then tackled Goasard and Klli fane. Over the last hundred yards Kilfane and The Reaver had the issue to themselves, Kilfane winning by a neck. Lord Ashlea Jumped out flrst m the Klnloch Welter, but before fifty yards Lovosign hit the front. Then Brown Willie and Meteorite took up the running and led round the top from Lovesign, Dianella. with Lord Ashlea, Samum ana Urgency next. Two furlongs from home Brown Willie drew clear, but well Into tho straight Lovesign and Samum came through and Dianella and High Heels moved up. At tho distance Brown Willie commenced to tire and Loveslgn overhauled him and won by a length with Samum third, a neck behind Brown Willie.
