DEPORTATION.
Dear "Truth,"— Recently I saw In the Press that Germany will deport foreigners owing to their own unemployed problem. Hungary, too, because of the food trouble m that country. Before the war I remember Germany deported Belgians 'and Russians on "general principles," whatever'that may mean. Now, Sir, what's \viong with this country • doing likewise and so giving what little work ihere ia to be had to our own people? Or at least could we not restrict the mmber of foreigners to the number of New Zealanders working m othei countries? How many New Zealandera are there In Germany, Denmark Greece, Italy and China? We would be on the right side if we had only the name, number of theu? people here. And the £ 100 poll tax of Chinese would be well spent if p^aid out. Think of the. returned soldiers and others who might take up the fruit business; Also t*^e restaurant and flsh trade. Britaivrfs curse was always letting her own people emigrate or starve while ;'oreigne"rs took their places, and New Zealand seems to do the same. It's time we woke up and got going. If any party at: this time , advocated .omething m- this direction I know chey would get my vote. — I am. etc., "WEST SURREY." Wellington, November 2.
