fits Dear "Truth," — A short time ago we had a visit from a representative of the Labor Department with reference to the alleged exploitation of immigrant labor- The official gathered sufficient evidence to take proceedings against oertain employers. Whether the department intends to go on with the cases remains to be seen. In the meantime the employer at the mill m question has gone one better than the Labor Department— he has paid off the 1 unfortunate immigrants whom he exploited, presumably to avoid trouble m the e\ent.of proceedings. These men were informed by the manager of the mill m. question that he had been instructed by the owner: to pay them off, and that he was not going to be dictated to by any Labor officials. Will the Labor Department allow any direct challenge like this to pass? *\ more glaring case of cowardly discrimination it has never been my lot to drop across.
