Pavo was responsible for a fine performance m the Chatham Handicap. Despite the heavy going the topweight looked all over a winner inside the distance, but was just touched off m the last couple of strides by Waumatere. Royal Abbey finished on well m the Jellicoe, but never really got m the danger line. He is not a real good horse. Fingoland was a big tip m the Chatham Handicap, but after being m second place at the home turn he blew out and finished last- but one. It will be different when the half-brother to Desert Gold gets a dry track. Jolly Princess ran well enough last week to suggest she will earn a cheque soon. She goes well on a heavy track.
