Police Push On .With Prosecution of Pseudo-Psychic Parasitical Pests.

That the police are going on with the good work of cleaning up the city of the pseudo- psychic parasitical push was evident ■ again at the Wellington Magistrate's Court last week, when Williamana Barbara McDonald had tb discontinue her peregrinations into the future for a while to appear before Magistrate F. K. Hunt, on a fortune-telling charge. Williamana .evidently had enough idea pf the future m this case to dispense ' with 'the' services' of counsel, for his Worship had no. .hesitation m imposing the maximum fine on her. Sub-Inspector McNamara, who prosecuted, called as his first witness a police matron who related how she .had a little . r FLUTTER INTO THE FUTURE* . at a net cost of two bob. Williamana was her fair guide through the forbidden paths. Some, of the valriable information imparted to her included a future visit to. England, a letter m .March from over the water, a profitable deal with a solicitor (Wow!) and other things. MacVtme juggled t with a crystal, a black cloth and a cup of tea leaves— the usual, old stock-in-trade with the usual old story. The meatiest slice of the future reallj concerned a cryptical observation .from. Williamana that she could see A BIG-TREE AND A BLACK CAT outside, which meant good luck for the police matron. The latter -evidently had. the good luck m that her evidence 'eventually v convicted Williamana. : - ; The same old dope was- put "over' byMadame /to the . assistant police matron, who interviewed, her. subsequent' to the first witness. ■', Illnesses,' births, messages across the water, a letter with money m it, mixed up with sundry; ordinary observations cost another, two shillings. Williamana failed badly m telling the domestic details of the two police matrons who interviewed her. She told the' first witness that she had .five children and was living apart from her husband, when as a matter 'of fact .she was a widow.
