: — ♦ Young Girl Attacked WICKED WALDEN. A young man named Charles Eric Walden, a sea-cook by profesh, for whom Mr. T. M. Wilford appeared, pleaded not guilty to a charge of assault -with intent to commit rape. He accompanied her to Boulcott-st., where* she was employed as a domestic, and it is alleged that, as the girl went to walk up the driveway of her employer's residence, accused came behind her and threw her violently to the ground, when a desperate struggle ensued, which was only terminated when the girl's screams had attracted a neighbor's attention. Tho jury found Walden guilty of indecent assault. Walden was sentenced to three years' detention for reformation purposes at Invercarg-ill. His Honor stating that he had committed perjury of the worst kind m attempting to blacken the character of the girl m order to get himself out of trouble. . - |
