ANOTHER SCALE.

A correspondent signing himself "HJB." (Pihama) writes complaining that he has been "scaled" by a Wellington firm of bookmakers, and he encloses the firm's card, and wants to know if it is the same firm that robbed the soldier. "Truth" does not know the firm named, and evidently the "graft? Is to circularise .the > country and do no business m the city. To the writer it seems incredible that such firms can get any business, but old saying still holds good, and that is: "MugsVare born every day." . "HJ3." says it "la hard /enough to pick winners without being "scaled" when you do land one. "Spearmint" says "Hear, hear" and would suggest to "H. 8." 'that there are plenty of reputable men In Wellington to do business without taking up with unknown firms.
