William FaiW. Version.
ft its Issue of December 80, "Truth* published a report of proceedings m the Chrlstchurch S-M.'s Court, wherein one "William Fuller: of Woolstoa, was proceeded againxt for the maintenance of his wife. > The defendant. in the case sends the 'following to -Truth" for publication: Will you kindly 'allow me to say a few words re my case, Puller v. Puller. The. charge of cruelty was never gone on with m the court, as there were no grounds for that and I had no chance to deny the charge. I offered £o pay 25s a week after holidays, which was declined. I can produce receipts to show that it took all I earned and more to keep the house. I might say that I was told I would be shown up m the court. As for <my wife being penniless, she had £ 3 17a two days before she went to court and when I offered her money she refused to take it . . . All I want is the public to see that I am not so bad as I am painted. Portion of the letter la deleted because it reflects on the complainant In the case m question. Naturally, "Truth" did not "take sides" m the case. It was a court case, and as such we were entitled to report It.
