The War God seemed bent on destruction, To the brink old Europe had rolled; When, 10, there came an obstruction "J-* As the knelt of the Old Year tolled. See Peace is bravely contriving To stop that wild warrior's career, And while they are struggling and striving, Enters tho youngster: New Year.
Shall he shoulder a gun to aid her In the cause we hold so dear? &* Or shall Nations raaton togothor To honor the bright New Year? Tho task is hard with the God of War Tho fate of the race to defend, But whate'er the future has In stor* "* '-!..,^~* Fair Peace shall win m the end.
