"A Lot of Young Blaokguards" In the affiliation affair when a 17---year-old girl residing m Devonport charged Arthur Roy with being tho dada of her babe und m which case evidence was heard on Friday week and then adjourned for a week, cropped up again last Friday. It will bo remenibored that the case was adjourned m order that further evidence might bo called on cither side, but when Lawyer Simson carno along with Nurse Collins to give evidence to the effect that the child was premature Lawyer. Singer objected to the evidence, submitting that complainant's case had been closed. His Worship said that he could not allow fresh evidence unless counsel on both shies agreed, and aa Mr. Singer objected the nurse could not bo called. There was a bit of a wrangle between counsel, and finally his Worship ; hinted that ho" would reserve detfeil'ju. i "This unfortunate girl.".- said Magistrate i Kettle, "got amongst v lot of young i blackguards who prowl about looking I for weak girls. They wiint the cat-o'-nine tails, that's what they want." i Hlm Worship then reserved his. decision.
