Mr. Hallarn explains that he and several friends were ' discussing Dawson's career — all good Quecnslanders look upon George, who was born and raised la New South Wales, as one of their own, because he travelled that State ; for a time and came from there to enter upon life as a prominent boxer — and an argument arose, as -to the duration of that famous battle. It was agreed to refer the matter to me and abide by my statement 61 this facts. ' • j I referred to that fight m Book 1., when dealing with Davrson's story; but did not give many^ details. Being thus asked directly, I -^delved into piles oi records /and discovered the following report, written by me on the 'strength bi the exclusive cable, and published m "Truth," of July 31, 1802.
