When a bloke gets into bed, and at once begins roaming airily m the Elysian lields, it certainly comes as a terrible shock to him to find himself suddenly bumping along on a hard' wooden floor m his pyjamas right down among concrete mundane matters again. That was just the position of Alfred Wall .Dann, who had boarded his snug: bunk at the decent hour of 10 p.m., to fall immediately into the consolliu? arms of balmy sleep. Alfred was just In the seventh heaven when a young rough, named Earnest Edward Scott, with MORE SPIRITS WITHIN AND WITHOUT than would explode a witch's palace, pulled, the happy sleeper out of bed! As a result, Scott found himself m the dock of the Magistrate's Court, List Monday, before Mr. W. Y. Widdowson, S.M. j Scott was charged with assaulting ■ Dann, and with damaging v door valued at 30/-. He fell sound ! asleep, and the next thing ho' recollected was being dragged out of bed, and thrown roughly on tho floor. It , was quite dark and he did not know who tho lunatic was that was pitching him about. During the pulling-about process, witness got bumped on to the I corridor, and his pyjamas got torn; He fled before his, assailant into another boarder's room and closed the door, but accused followed and smashed the door m. Scott was m a wild state of liquor and very dangerous. The Magistrate asked Scott if he had anything to say, but the accused, merely smiled. Tho S.M.: Evidently it's a hugo joke to you yet, is that so? Accused: Well, no Hlr; I roally don't exactly recollect what happened. I know I returned to the boardinghouse I at midnight, and as I was making for my room someone gave me a smack and bolted into Dann's room. I fol- | lowed and pulled Dann out of bed; I did not strikes him. | Had you not had a considerable quantity of liquor? — Just a few pots. The Magistrate fined Scott 40/- for the assault, and 10/- for the damage done to the door. He could do a spell m gaol for 21 days If he didn't care about parting with the rhino.
